Preparation Lab

Step 01

In a large bowl, mix together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg, vanilla and salt, then mix in the flour.

Step 02

Make the dough into a ball and cut into two halves. Add the food colouring to one half, working it in until evenly mixed.

Step 03

On a large cutting board covered in plastic wrap, use a rolling pin to roll out each piece of dough into two 30x22cm rectangles. Place wax paper over the dough while rolling to stop it sticking to the rolling pin.

Step 04

Take the coloured dough rectangle and place it over the plain dough rectangle. Use the plastic wrap under the plain dough to help you roll the two rectangles up together.

Step 05

Fill a flat dish or baking pan with sprinkles. Roll the dough log around in them until the outside is completely coated, then chill for at least 4 hours.

Step 06

Preheat the oven to 190C/375F. Cut the dough into 6mm slices and place them on a cookie sheet.

Step 07

Bake for 8-10 minutes, until blonde. Enjoy!
